SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVES

Ages 8-16yrs
Work with a variety of high-level instructors from Crossings & the Calgary dance community, try out new styles of dance, and bring your dancing to the NEXT LEVEL!
Get ready to JUMP back into dance this fall with this action-packed intensive including Acro, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Character, Stretch & Conditioning! Students will be divided into levels according to age & experience.

STAR WARS One-Day Fun-Day
Sunday, May 5th

Ages 6-10 yrs
$45/student or $80/family (+GST)
Parents, take a well-deserved break on a Sunday afternoon and let your young Padawans dive into a galaxy far, far away with our Star Wars Themed: One-Day Fun-Day! This thrilling 3hr event offers a host of exciting activities, making it the perfect afternoon escape for kids and a peaceful break for you.
Activities Include:
DANCE: Explore movement inspired by our favourite Star Wars characters.
Acting Games: Engaging games that boost confidence and spark creativity.
Lightsaber Lessons: Learn to wield the iconic Jedi weapon
Movement Activities: Games that improve coordination and get kids moving.
Dress up as your favourite Star Wars character and blast off into a galaxy of adventure and learning. It’s a perfect way for kids to get moving, make new friends, learn new skills, and immerse themselves in the exciting world of Star Wars.

RECITAL ROSES FUNDRAISER

After performing in a show, dancers often receive flowers from their supporters. It is a wonderful tradition that we carry on at Crossings’ Recital and use as a fundraiser each year.
This year the proceeds from the sale of roses will go to the Shirley Agate-Proust Legacy Fund - providing financial bursaries for Crossings students. Please consider supporting your dancer and Crossings through this offering.
Roses will be for sale in the foyer on show day (cash only) as well as available for PREORDER (Online ONLY) during the weeks of April 8 – May 10. We encourage you to consider pre-ordering your roses as a way for us to ensure the correct number of roses are ordered.
Please note, we have roses for sale for BOTH the Year End Recital (Full-Year Classes, May 28) and the Sessional Showcase (May 29). Be sure to select and purchases roses for the correct performance. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to to contact us!

CYDC AUDITIONS

Interested in auditioning for Crossings Youth Dance Company (aka. CYDC)?
This inspiring youth dance company is a Calgary faith-based performance group that provides an outlet for young dancers to develop their artistic skill and gain performance experience. Through mentorship of the whole dancer (body, mind, spirit) CYDC hopes to expand the dancers understanding and integration of faith and art. CYDC's ministry as a company is to be a bridge between the church and dance community, providing the church with excellent and thought-provoking dance and bringing inspiring dance into the community.
Audition Times & Divisions:
9:30 - 11:00am - DIVISION 1 (Junior 1 & 2)
11:15 - 12:45pm - DIVISION 2 (Inter 1 & 2)
1:00 - 2:30pm - DIVISION 3 (Vocational 1 & 2)
2:45 - 4:15pm - DIVISION 4 & INTERSECT (Vocational 3 & 4)
How to prepare for the audition:
*Registration based on current 2023/24 levels.
$15 Audition fee +gst (Cash or E-transfer)
A parent information meeting will be held at the start of each audition.

The CYDC experience:
Week-long August Choreographic Intensive (August 19-23, 2024)
Weekly Saturday rehearsals (all major holidays are taken off)
Learn 3-5 new dances a season
Work with local, national or international choreographers
Full scale theatre production (March 2025)
Perform repertoire around Calgary in churches, schools and community events
Weekly devotional time related to the annual theme
Mentorship, Discipleship and Community
Group bonding
Travel opportunities

SPRING MINI SESSION #2

Saturdays 9:15 - 9:45am
Children ages 18months - 2yrs old are invited to explore the exciting world of dance supported by an adult! Classes will include guided creative movement, rhythm exploration, and gross motor skill development through exciting obstacle courses and dance activities.

Classes will run as usual this Victoria Day Weekend - May 18 - 20, 2024
As this is the week before our Year End Recital, Crossings will remain open and all classes will run as usual.
