Here’s some info about our teachers Tyron and Shawna:

Tyron began dancing at the age of 10 in Germany and teaching at the age of 14 after he moved to Canada. In the past he has taught privately for the City of Calgary, the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University and numerous studios in the Calgary region.

While in Germany, Tyron began dancing competitively in Ballroom Dance and came in second in the German Youth Category in 1981. After coming to Canada Tyron narrowly missed competing in the Country Worlds Competition when his dance partner suffered an incapacitating injury just prior to the competition. Following this, Tyron and his mother formed ET Ballroom where they shared their love of dance with Calgary. It was during this time that Tyron was introduced to and fell in love with Argentine Tango and trained under the critical eye of Miguel Angel Pla. He has taught Tango ever since.

Shawna was introduced to dance at a young age, starting Ballet at an Edmonton community center and then dancing with the Royal Alberta School of Ballet for 2 years, performing at the Citadel Theatre as a Golden Leaf in their production of Snow White.

Together Tyron and Shawna have participated in various workshops, classes and dance groups, taught at a studio in Edmonton and the Latin Cultural Club at Mount Royal University and run private classes. Tyron and Shawna are expecting their sixth child, and they are looking forward to continuing to dance through life.

This performance will be Christmas themed and will be a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.
